Yavapai College working with City, local employer to offer specialized training

Yavapai College in partnership with RESA Wear is now accepting applications for a new 15-week intensive training/internship program in custom 3D printing.

RESA Wear manufactures mobile kiosks that 3D prints orthotic inserts for shoes. The kiosk scans, designs and then prints insoles in about an hour; these kiosks will be in Costco, Walmart, and Macys stores throughout the US.

An informational preview day will be held at the Yavapai College CTEC Campus, 220 Ruger Road, on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 9 a.m.

The training program features six courses including: electronics fundamentals, digital systems, 3D printer operation and maintenance, embedded systems and IoT (internet of things), and basic and advanced networking. Classes run Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and the internship at RESA is Thursdays and Fridays. The program begins January 29 and runs through May 11.

Student interns are paid $14/hour to start while they are in the program. Interns who successfully complete the program and are hired by RESA as a production technician can earn $25/hour, or more. After a six month probationary period, the salary would increase. NACOG will be assisting RESA with fully paid tuition for the course - for those students who qualify. Applicants must be able to lift 40 to 50 pounds, have a clean driving record and be willing to travel.

The City of Prescott Economic Development Office is partnering with Yavapai College and RESA Wear to offer this new program.

“The City has been working with RESA for several months, to help them get to the next level in their business,” said Prescott Mayor Greg Mengarelli. “We are pleased to have brought RESA and CTEC (Career Technical & Education Center) together for this exciting new program.”
