A four-vehicle collision Tuesday morning sent two people to the hospital, according to Prescott Fire spokesman Conrad Jackson.
It happened at about 10 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 89 and Prescott Lakes Parkway.
A sedan driven by a man in his 80s crossed the median and struck a pickup that was waiting in the left-turn lane, Jackson said, and the truck was hit so hard that it was pushed backwards into a vehicle behind it, and a fourth car was also damaged.
The driver of the car that crossed over was flown to a Phoenix-area trauma center with life-threatening injuries and the driver of one of the cars hit in the chain reaction was taken to Yavapai Regional Medical Center with less serious injuries, Jackson said.
Traffic was tied up for over an hour, he added.
