Letter: Stringer’s right affirms beliefs
Rep. Noel Campbell was absolutely correct in his Dec. 11 column that “Rep. Stringer has a constitutional right to express his opinion.” Rep. David Stringer does have that right and, in fact, his ability to express his opinions is vital to our democratic process, in that it allows his constituents to better understand his stances and world view.
I have listened to the entire audio file and researched many of Stringer’s past comments and positions. I thank Stringer for the information, which is on the record. Having the information reaffirms my belief that Stringer does not represent my values and that his positions and on-the-record remarks inhibit his ability to be an effective representative to the people of Legislative District 1.
This is not about party, as Republican House Speaker Rusty Bowers called Stringer’s comments “vile” and has stripped him of a number of committee assignments. In these divisive times, perhaps we have now found a bi-partisan issue where all sides can agree that Stringer needs to be recalled.
