The 2018-19 Courier Bowl Challenge on Friday saw sports reporter Doug Cook move into first place at 16-7, followed by News/Sports Editor Brian Bergner Jr. at 15-8.
The remaining panelists followed with Copy Editor Doug Graham (14-9) in third, Senior News Editor Tim Wiederaenders (13-10) in fourth, and sports reporter Chris Whitcomb (12-11) in fifth.
Friday's games ended with a few surprises:
- Auburn 63, Purdue 14
- Syracuse 34, West Virginia 18
- Washington St. 28, Iowa St. 26
Our panelists made their picks for each college bowl game and those selections are scheduled to be printed on page 1B of The Daily Courier’s sports section until the games are over, concluding with the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday, Jan. 7.
The panelist with the best record at the end of the 2018-19 bowl season will be proclaimed the winner. If a tiebreaker is needed, the score of the championship game will be selected.
