PRESCOTT VALLEY – Merry Christmas, sports fans! Following is the Courier Sports Department’s selections for our 2018 Fall All-Courier team. Congratulations to each player on a great fall season.

CROSS-COUNTRY

BOYS FIRST TEAM

Alec Almendarez, junior, Prescott [Courier Runner of the Year]: Almendarez finished in 8th place out of 236 runners in the Division III state meet’s 5K race with a time of 16 minutes and 55.68 seconds; led Badgers’ boys’ team to a second-place finish out of 32 squads at state. Lisandro McCarter, freshman, Prescott: 9th place in the Division III state meet’s 5K race in 16:56.11.

Fernando Rodriguez, senior, Prescott: 32nd place in the Division III state meet’s 5K race in 17:46.76.

Jack Northrup, senior, Prescott: 35th place in the Division III state meet’s 5K race in 17:49.57.

Lane Evens, senior, Chino Valley: 41st place in the Division III state meet’s 5K race in 17:56.46.

HONORABLE MENTION

Angel Flores Calderon, senior, Prescott: 45th place in the Division III state meet’s 5K race in 18:01.59.

Zackary Zertuche, senior, Prescott: 63rd place in the Division III state meet’s 5K race in 18:19.34.

Phoenix Swiacki, junior, Chino Valley: 79th place in the Division III state meet’s 5K race in 18:38.68.

GIRLS FIRST TEAM

Makenna Bray, junior, Prescott (Courier Runner of the Year): 7th place out of 203 runners in the Division III state meet’s 5K race with a time of 20 minutes and 8.05 seconds; led Badgers’ girls’ team to a second-place finish out of 27 squads at state.

Emily McMahon, junior, Prescott: 8th place in the Division III state meet’s 5K race with a time of 20:10.52.

Tea Castro, sophomore, Prescott: 25th place in the Division III state meet’s 5K race with a time of 21:03.32.

Michelle Parent, freshman, Prescott: 26th place in the Division III state meet’s 5K race with a time of 21:10.96.

Alyssa Moise, sophomore, Prescott: 74th place in the Division III state meet’s 5K race with a time of 22:32.59.

HONORABLE MENTION

Kaliyah Greer-Gipson, junior, Prescott: 90th place in the Division III state meet’s 5K race with a time of 22:50.26.

Erin Kennedy, junior, Prescott: 120th place in the Division III state meet’s 5K race with a time of 23:37.57.

Anna Maria Zea, senior, Bradshaw Mountain: 25th place out of 102 runners in the Division III, Section IV race with a time of 21:59.7.

Harris Temple, junior, Prescott [Courier Swimmer of the Year]: 2nd at Division II state meet in 100-yard butterfly (50.17 seconds); 5th at Division II state meet in 100-yard freestyle (48.59 seconds); fourth leg of 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished 15th at Division II state meet (1:36.54 total time; 21.66-second leg).

Sean Henegar, junior, Prescott: Second leg of 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished 15th at Division II state meet (1:36.54 total time; 24.09-second leg).

Dan Bassett, sophomore, Prescott: Third leg of 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished 15th at Division II state meet (1:36.54 total time; 24.98-second leg).

Blake Francis, junior, Prescott: First leg of 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished 15th at Division II state meet (1:36.54 total time; 25.81-second leg).

Josh Baillie, junior, Bradshaw Mountain: 6th at Division II state meet in 200-yard freestyle (1:45.78); 14th at Division II state meet in 500-yard freestyle (4:52.40).

GIRLS FIRST TEAM

Renee Baillie, senior, Bradshaw Mountain (Courier Swimmer of the Year): Was seeded 29th out of 32 qualifying swimmers in the 100-yard freestyle at the Division III state meet with a seed time of 1:02.97; was the last of 32 swimmers to qualify for the Division II state meet in the 100-yard breaststroke with a seed time of 1:14.70.

EDITOR’S NOTE — This fall’s All-Courier boys and girls soccer selections will be included with the All-Courier winter teams.
