Courier Bowl Challenge sees three-way tie after Day 1

The 2018-19 Courier Bowl Challenge is underway!

Our panelists have made their picks for each college bowl game and those selections are scheduled to be printed on page 1B of The Daily Courier’s sports section until the games are over, concluding with the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday, Jan. 7.

The panelist with the best record at the end of the 2018-19 bowl season will be proclaimed the winner. If a tiebreaker is needed, the score of the championship game will be selected.

After Day 1, Saturday, Dec. 15, the overall standings are: three-way tie for 1st: All at 4-2 — Brian M. Bergner Jr., Doug Graham, and Chris Whitcomb; with Tim Wiederaenders and Doug Cook trailing, tied for 4th at 3-3 on the day.

Tuesday, Dec. 18

Boca Raton (Fla.) Bowl: UAB (10-3) vs. North Illinois (8-5), 7 p.m. (ESPN)

Wednesday, Dec. 19

Frisco (Texas) Bowl: San Diego State (7-5) vs. Ohio (8-4), 8 p.m. (ESPN)

Thursday, Dec. 20

Gasparilla Bowl at St. Petersburg, Fla.: Marshall (8-4) vs. South Florida (7-5), 8 p.m. (ESPN)
