Yavapai soccer’s Perez Flores again earns All-America honors
PRESCOTT — United Soccer Coaches this week selected Yavapai College star sophomore midfielder Jose Perez Flores to its Division I Junior College Men’s All-America Team for the second straight season.
In 2018, Perez Flores of McMinnville, Oregon, affectionately known as “Pepsi,” became the prestigious Roughriders program’s all-time leader in assists with 38. He also scored 30 goals in a Yavapai uniform.
Last year, United Soccer Coaches named Perez Flores as the only freshman in the country on its 2017 All-America Team. Perez Flores’ most recent selection represents the 63rd All-American award for Yavapai College’s seven-time NJCAA national championship-winning program.
The Roughriders, who finished their 2018 campaign by losing, 1-0, in the NJCAA’s Region I Tournament semifinals to eventual national champion Pima Community College Oct. 25 in Tucson, will play their 31st season on the pitch in 2019.
