Duane Leon Wikenhauser, known to family as Willie and to friends as Wick, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 65.
Duane was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Shortly after he was born, the family moved to California. Duane grew up there in Norwalk. Even as a kid, he showed his affinity for building things. That talent continued into adulthood in a career in concrete construction. He built a variety of structures and worked his way into a superintendent position. He retired from Ben F. Smith Inc. after 32 years with them and moved to Paulden, Arizona.
As a teen, Duane enjoyed racing motor-cross. As an adult, he continued to be an avid rider and a member of BMW motorcycle club. It was at a BMW rally that he met his wife and true love, Linda. His other favorite activities were hiking, camping, bicycling and watching people.
He was a man of deep faith and one who lived and served those around him, which is why he will be so deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Linda; his sister, Lisa and her husband, Ron; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and two great-great-nephews.
Please gather with us as we celebrate Duane’s life on Dec. 7, 11 a.m., in Chino Valley at Grace Baptist Church.
