Prescott drops one spot to No. 4 after postponement of Canyon del Oro contest

PRESCOTT VALLEY β€” After a convincing 20-7 over Shadow Mountain on Friday night, the Bradshaw Mountain football team improved to 2-0 for the first time since 2013.

And with that, the Grand Canyon Media Football Poll update released Wednesday for Week 3 has them holding strong at No. 1 with 73 total points and eight first-place votes.

Mingus, also 2-0 after a 55-32 win over Show Low, came in a close second with 69 total points and three first-place votes.

Flagstaff moved up in the poll to No. 3 with 45 points, while Prescott dropped to No. 4 with 42 points after the Badgers’ matchup with Canyon del Oro was postponed due to lightning.

Coconino made the biggest jump, receiving 41 points and moving up two spots after its 42-28 win over Thunderbird on Friday. Mohave (23 points) and Lee Williams (17 points) came in sixth and seventh, respectively.


Bradshaw Mountain (2-0, 0-0 Grand Canyon) hosts Youngker for its 2018 home opener Friday, Aug. 31, while Prescott travels south to Phoenix and will play Moon Valley. Kickoff for both games Friday night is set for 7 p.m.
