Blanket Van set to visit PV Goodwill parking lot on Sept. 1

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, the Blanket Van will be down in Prescott Valley at the Goodwill parking lot, 7620 Highway 69 for the purpose of collecting “blankets, hats, scarfs, stuffed animals and tarn” for the less fortunate families with children and those in homeless shelters. In addition our delivery schedule for 2018 and 2019 will include our veteran’s services and the Hopi Indian tribe kids. Our schedule for the Head-Start Kids in Ashfork and Williams will be on Sept. 4 and after that delivery, the Blanket Van will work its way into other Yavapai County head-start programs and other children services.

“Making Happiness a Habit”

“Making Happiness a Habit” is a free presentation to occur from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Las Fuentes Resort Village, 1035 Scott Drive in Prescott.                                                

Connie Boston, Manager of the Senior Peer Program of West Yavapai Guidance Clinic, will discuss the ‘7 Habits of Happiness,’ which are a set of basic skills that anyone can use to change their negative feelings and increase their emotional and physical well-being. These simple habits have been scientifically proven to change the neural pathways of the brain toward optimism, leading to a more positive outlook and increased ability to cope with life’s challenges.
