Obituary: Patricia Louise Gibbs Joralemon

Patricia Louise Gibbs Joralemon, August 25, 1920-June 4, 2018. Pat, affectionately known as Fifi, was born in Swanbridge, Glamorgan, Wales to Amy Louise Roberts and Lt. Eustace Martin Gibbs, a New Zealander. She was raised in Wales and western England where the Bristol Channel was always in sight. During WWII she met and married US Sgt Nicholas H. Joralemon in Porlock, England. Following the war years, Fifi immigrated to Livingston, New Jersey where she and Nick raised their family of 3 girls and assorted pets.

In 1997, Fifi moved to Prescott, Ariz and resided there until her death at Good Samaritan Marley House Hospice.

Fifi was a passionate supporter of the rights of women, animal rights, the natural environment, and proper usage of the English language. Her crossword skills were central to completing in ink the Sunday NY Times crossword and acrostic. She always enjoyed a good game of Scrabble and had an uncanny way of turning a word or phrase with a joke or quip. Fifi kept her sense of humor and positive attitude towards life to her last days.

Fifi leaves behind her brother Keith (Jan) Gibbs of Australia; niece Heather Gibbs of the UK; daughters Susan Hout, Jessie (Michael) Bourke, and Marguerite Joralemon; grandchildren Chris Hout, Carolyn Minks, Euloiza Jorge, Solange Jorge, Allison Bourke, and Charles Bourke; and great-grandchildren Nick and Nash Hout, Malcolm and Ani King, and Jesse Dee Burke.

Fifi wished her life to be remembered with a festive party which is planned for her 98th birthday on August 25th, 2018. Call Susie or Jessie for details. In memory of dear Fifi, please consider a donation to United Animal Friends, PO Box 1113, Prescott, AZ 86304.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Heritage Memory Mortuary. Please visit www.heritagemortuary.com to sign Fifi’s online guestbook.
