Skull Valley Loop Challenge set for Sept. 16 in Prescott

The 2018 Skull Valley Loop Challenge is scheduled to take place Sunday, Sept. 16, in Prescott. The 54-mile road bicycling loop begins and finishes in historic downtown Prescott. Skilled veterans or those new to the sport are welcome to sign up. Early race registration cost is $65 until Thursday, Aug. 16, then $75 after Aug. 16 until race day. Those who register before Aug. 24 are guaranteed a race event shirt. The event is capped at a limited number of riders. Proceeds from the Skull Valley Loop Challenge benefits Prescott Alternative Transportation (PAT), a non-profit 501-c3. For more information, visit svlchallenge.com or email info@svlchallenge.com.

Deadline to apply for Local Sportsmen’s Group grants set for Aug. 15

The Arizona Game and Fish Department is currently taking applications for $75,000 in funds available for hunting and fishing retention programs in the area, according to a department press release Monday, Aug. 13. The priority funding focus of this year’s Local Sportsmen’s Group grants program is on hunter-angler development and retention through progressive skills development. A new category has been added for projects that provide a base camp or “meet-up” for experienced hunters, or anglers from past projects who no longer need mentored training. The new online application submission and instructions are available at azgfd.gov/LSG. Application deadline is 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15. EnduroCross Motorcycle Racing set for Aug. 25 at PV Event Center

EnduroCross Motorcycle Racing is scheduled to bring some of the top EnduroCross racers in the world to the Prescott Valley Event Center on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018.

EnduroCross racing features indoor, off-road motorcycle racing on a custom track filled with obstacles including rocks, boulders, logs, sand, mud and giant tires. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with an autograph session scheduled at that time until 7:15 p.m. Opening ceremonies are 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children ages 2 to 12.
