I was a registered Democrat back in the 1960s and 70s and as a Democrat some fellow Republicans told me I was a communist because I was a Democrat. I eventually become an independent, but not because of those comments.
All this strikes me as amusing today as I was never was a communist, have always first been a Christian then an American and down the list to an independent.
I was a teacher and specialized in the Lenin, Stalin, Khrushchev, era on down through the current Putin reign of Russia. Believe me, Russia has never been a democracy during those eras and never has been in its past history. All like Kim Jong-Un were dictators with little regard to human rights.
So it has interested me a good deal with some discomfort as an American how President Trump and those who support him could come to the place of seeing how communism and human rights could be set aside in some way to favor a close friendly relationship in face of North Korea’s and Russian’s history with us as Americans. How things can turn around in political history.
Have Republicans now become communists and Democrats become Americans? If so, what a change.
Could it be that we will see our Veterans Day parade this year (that Trump so covets) with Vladimir, Kim and Donald cheering on from the White House steps with contingencies of American, Russian, and Korean soldiers and military hardware rolling down the street celebrating all veterans worldwide? Stay tuned.
