Michael Hugh Bonner, 67, of Alexandria, Minnesota and Prescott, Arizona, died on July 29, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. He spent his last days surrounded by his family.
Mike was born on Aug. 6, 1950, in Virginia, Minnesota, to Robert and Elizabeth (Dwyer) Bonner. He grew up in Virginia and at Lake Fourteen, graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1968 and attended Mesabi Community College and the Minnesota College of Art and Design. In 1976, Mike and Neysa Perdue married in Minneapolis and eventually returned to Virginia to raise their family, where he and his siblings ran the family business, Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Virginia. Mike and Neysa retired in 2012 and moved to Alexandria, spending their winters in California and Arizona near their grandchildren. Mike loved his family, spending time outside, and listening to music.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Neysa; his daughter, Lindsay (Dr. Matthew) Pavelka of Prescott, Arizona; son, Dr. Ryan (Liz Pechacek) of Minneapolis; grandsons, Leo and Jack Pavelka; his brothers, Stephen (Jennifer) of Virginia and John of Hibbing; his sisters, Susan (John) Kelly of Virginia and Elizabeth (Keith) Clark of Overland Park, Kansas; his mother-in-law, Patricia Perdue of Alexandria; and brothers-in-law, Daniel (Rebecca) Perdue of Alexandria, and Matthew (Patricia Ellis) Perdue of Newnan, Georgia; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Thomas; and his father-in-law, James Perdue.
The family would like to thank Mike’s incredible caregivers from Kindred Home Health and Circle of Life Memory Care Home, who helped make Mike’s wish of spending his last winter in the warmth of Arizona come true.
Friends and family will gather on August 11th in Prescott to celebrate Mike’s life.
