Bright Futures Preschool has been a part of the Humboldt Unified School District (HUSD) for over 20 years. It started as one classroom and one Head Start classroom sharing a portable building on the Liberty Traditional Campus.

In 1997, the preschool grew to two classrooms with a total enrollment that year of 54 students. The preschool, at that time, employed two teachers and four classroom aides. One of the two teachers was also the on-site preschool coordinator.

In 2008, Bright Futures Preschool moved to the HUSD district offices located on Robert Road. That year the preschool grew to three teachers with two aides in each classroom.

Fast forward to 2018: currently the preschool has four classrooms with a certified teacher and two aides in each classroom — with a current enrollment of 142 students.

Bright Futures welcomes 2.9- to 5-year-olds who love to have fun and learn new things, no matter their ability level. The preschool offers a developmentally appropriate curriculum, along with a full range of special needs services for exceptional children.

Bright Futures Preschool is a loving, warm and nurturing place where each child develops skills in the areas of social/emotional, self-help, concepts, physical, and language skills according to individual readiness.

Bright Futures is committed to providing a high quality early childhood preschool experience for students and their families. The curriculum and teacher/child interaction go together to provide each child with an individual approach to learning.

Program activities encourage exploration, problem solving, self-expression, and kindergarten readiness skills. Bright Futures is also dedicated to creating a safe, fun and exciting place for children to succeed.

For the 2018-19 school year, Bright Futures Preschool will offer an expansion to its program.

Starting in August, there will be an Extended Preschool program available from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Students participating in this program will attend a preschool class with an early childhood certified teacher in the afternoon. If you are interested and want more information, please visit the HUSD main website at www.humboldtunified.com and click the Bright Futures Preschool logo.

Those interested can also call the preschool office at 928-759-5130 for more information.

There is limited space available. To secure a spot for your child you must complete the enrollment packet that is available online or at the school office, sign the tuition agreement and submit a $50 deposit.

We look forward to continuing to support the families in our community.
