Stanhope Nixon Rice

Stanhope Nixon Rice, Sr., went on to be with the Lord on April 24, 2018, in Prescott, Arizona. He was born July 16, 1933, to Robert and Effie (Shaw) Rice in Prescott, Arizona. Stan worked for American Laundry, Cornet Store, then for the Southwest Forest Industries for 25 years before the plant was closed. He then moved to Better Built for five years before working for the Yavapai - Prescott Indian Tribe and was a Para-Archeologist from 1993-2003 for the Tribe.

Stan served on the Yavapai-Prescott Indian Tribal Board of Directors and for many years was a leading elder with Bethel Assembly of God. He helped the growth of many ministries in Latin America, Africa, India and many other nations worldwide. He also helped to establish many Bible colleges in Africa. He loved fishing and hunting, including in Alaska, with his family.

Stan was married to Mamie for 53 years before he lost her in 2005. He retired, living the single life for seven years before he met and married Charlotte in 2013. They were married for three years before her death.

Stan is survived by his children, Stanley (Robin) Rice, Jr., Debra (Michael) Russell, Donna (Glen) Cluck, David (Debra) Rice, Charlotte (Alfonso) Hernandez, and Charles (Cathy) Rice; grandchildren, Teri, Douglas, Nathan, Eric, Crystal, Jessie, Joshua, Raquel, Matthew, Dominic, Allen, Jovanna, and Christopher; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, and his daughters, Dora and Denise. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the Yavapai-Prescott Indian Tribal Gathering Center at 530 E. Merritt Street in Prescott. Private burial will be at the Yavapai - Prescott Indian Tribal Cemetery.
