Mary (Susie) Gonzales-Gabaldon

Mary (Susie) Gonzales-Gabaldon passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family Oct. 20, 2017.

She was born July 12, 1928, in Peoria, Arizona, to Francisco and Josie Gonzales. She moved to Prescott in 1950 after marrying her husband, Roque Gabaldon. After raising her children, Mary worked at the VA Medical Center for 20 years, retiring as Chief of the Canteen. She then served the children at Sacred Heart School as “Miss Mary, the lunch lady” for many years. Not one to be retired for long, Mary volunteered two days a week at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store with her good friend, Agnes.

Mary is survived by all of her children, John, Rebecca, Steve, Tom, Rachel, Roxanne, Alex, Ruthann; and Sarah, granddaughter.

She is also survived by brothers, Sam and Manuel; sister, Dora; many family members, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and dear lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roque Gabaldon. Mary’s joyful presence, kind heart and unconditional love will be greatly missed.

Services will be held Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury St., Prescott, Arizona, 86301.

There will be a Rosary at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m. A light lunch will be served downstairs immediately following Mass.
