We support Kirkland Mining Company coming to this area. My children are seventh-generation Yavapai County. I love this area and all it stands for. My past was from here, we are living in this area now and my future generations will be here also.
For the smaller towns, Kirkland, Skull Valley, Hillside, Wilhoit, Congress and Yarnell we need this type of business to be in our community. KMC is a company that wants to be a part of this area, and want to help strengthen our community.
It is wonderful to have a company such as KMC that is willing to be good stewards of the land and make material known as a “natural Pozzolan” used to replace some of the cement content in concrete mixtures (to better it and make it stronger). It can also be used for water filtration and soil enhancement, to name just a few things this product can be used for. This company cares about the environment, and wants to provide a product that is an improvement to our society.
This was an existing mine known as the Kitty Litter Mine. KMC have done extensive testing to make sure it is a safe product for the environment. I grow up in the area when it was operating, right next to the mine we rode horses, hike and would swim in the creek. The area was not damaged or a threat to wildlife or to us.
I am proud that the material used on our State Capital Building and also for Kirkland School is the material that is from this area.
