Rants & Raves: Oct. 8, 2017

Got something on your mind? Tell us about it in 40 words or less.

  • Without an education and training, I started out as a fast food worker. I worked hard and landed a job as a first responder. Everyone needs to work their way up the wage ladder from the bottom.
  • Re: mini storage beside the Dells. Well, that should be quite the eyesore. Coupled with the developer who wants to put housing in the Dells, I guess greed gets to destroy a natural wonder.
  • Re: Abia Judd National Walk to School Story. Great positive story! As a child I walked to school with my older sisters and younger brother and sisters. We can combat obesity by walking with our children to the school instead of driving.
  • Welfare: Buz Williams perpetuates the lie that government hands out cash to lazy drug addicts who use the money for alcohol and tobacco. Check the AZ DES website for the truth. Eligibility requirements are strict and on-going screening is thorough.
  • I am a former Vietnam-era veteran. Let’s be clear minded about patriotism. Free speech actions do not qualify, or define, patriotism! What is in the speech or action, determines who is a true American patriot. Understand yet?
  • Are American taxpayers tired yet of ponying up for relief efforts when natural disasters like hurricanes strike? Whatever happened to people saving a little money for a rainy day?
  • People, don’t leave your discarded sofas on the curb! It is such an eyesore! If you don’t want it please take it to the dump. It looks so trashy.
  • Re: Miller Valley School. Another 101-year-old Prescott land mark bites the dust. Next will be thousands of houses encasing the Peavine and swallowing up the Dells.
  • Thank you Courier for articles about fun seasonal happenings in the region like the pumpkin festival. We are fairly new to the area and enjoy discovering things to do here.
  • RAVE: The Prescott Public Library experienced record attendance with 3,184 visitors for Saturday’s Comic-con convention.
  • Re: Bisbee bag law: Don’t our state representatives have more important issues to address? When DC puts its nose in AZ business, they complain. Then they do the same to a small community trying to clean up the mess from plastic bags. Geez!
