Former Yavapai College athletic director Lynn Merritt was recently inducted into the ACCAC Hall of Fame.

Merritt served as the Roughriders athletic director from 1983-1994, overseeing four national championships during her tenure in soccer, baseball and women’s cross-country before she retired.

Merritt was the founding faculty member in the health, physical education and recreation department in 1969 at Yavapai College, and served as NJCAA Region I director for two years.

She also coached the Roughriders women’s basketball to its first state championship game during the 1969-1970 season, claiming the school’s first title trophy.

Merritt spent time coaching the Yavapai College softball team and hired the school’s first and only soccer coach, Mike Pantalione.

In January, Merritt was inducted into the Yavapai College Athletic Hall of Fame.
