Teacher arrested after student films her allegedly using drugs in classroom
ST. JOHN, Ind. -- A northwest Indiana teacher was caught on video allegedly doing cocaine in the classroom.
The video was shot by a student at Lake Central High School in St. John and shared on social media. The footage appears to show the teacher making lines of cocaine, officials said.
Police arrested 24-year-old Samantha Cox and escorted her out of the school in handcuffs Wednesday.
Cox now faces charges of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, according to St. John police
St. John police requested assistance from nearby Dyer Police Department, which provided a drug-sniffing K-9.
School officials sent out a robocall to inform parents of the arrest.
Police praised the students who notified school administrators about Cox's suspicious behavior in the classroom. The investigation is ongoing.
