Two grants, totaling $43,000, have been awarded to the Prescott Police Department by the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
“Grant funds will allow for specific details to increase enforcement of DUI laws along with enforcing speed and other traffic related issues in attempt to make our roadways safer,” said David Fuller, police spokesman. The money will also be used for public education regarding traffic issues and impaired driving laws and consequences.
“During this grant period … the Prescott Police department will conduct at least one enhanced DUI enforcement detail per month,” Fuller said, and “will also conduct a minimum of eight speed and aggressive driver details at known problems areas throughout Prescott.”
He added that the educational efforts and special enforcement “will assist in making our roadways safer.”
