Hiker rescued from flume trail

A hiker in distress was rescued by Prescott firefighters Thursday, May 25, when she went hiking on the Flume Trail and became unable to walk out, Prescott Fire spokesman Conrad Jackson said.

The initial report was for a 32-year-old woman who had an allergic reaction and stopped breathing while on the trail near Watson Lake, Jackson said, but when rescue crews arrived, they found “she was not in respiratory arrest, but was having a medical issue and had started to attempt to hike back out.”

She was carried out back to the trailhead in a Stokes basket and taken to Yavapai Regional Medical Center for further treatment, Jackson said.
