The Yavapai Humane Society, in partnership with Talking Rock Ranch, will have its sixth annual Walk for the Animals on Saturday, May 20 at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Willow Creek Road.
The largest dog walk in the county celebrates the bond that exists between people and pets, raising fund and awareness for animals in need of a “forever family.” Donations from the event are intended to benefit the more than 3,000 animals the YHS shelters each year.
The event will include a one-mile and 5K course.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for children and a $60 family registration is available. Tickets can be purchased online at www.yavapaihumane.org or at the shelter at 1625 Sundog Ranch Road. Registration will also be available the morning of the event that will open at 8 a.m. with the walks to begin at 9 a.m. All participants are also automatic fundraisers as each is provided a personalized online fundraising page they are able to share with family and friends. Prizes range from a custom designed T-shirt for those raising just $25 to top fundraisers of $10,000 or more winning a three-night vacation to Sonoma complete with wine tours and airfare.
To date, fundraisers and businesses have collected close to $30,000, with $40,000 the organization’s fundraising goal.
Anyone who wishes to donate, but cannot participate in the walk, is welcome to do so through the organization’s website: www.yavapaihumane.org/walkforanimals.
