American Craft Beer Week
Several beer-heavy establishments in Prescott will be celebrating American Craft Beer Week (May 15 through 21).
Max Kamen at Park Plaza will be doing a Belching Beaver tasting on Friday, May 19, at 5 p.m.
Prescott Brewing Company will be pushing their promo this week leading up to the AmeriCAN festival on Saturday, May 20.
And Granite Mountain Brewing will be hosting special events every day of the week, including a Beer 101 session Monday evening, May 15; a Beer Appreciation session Tuesday evening, May 16; and a brewery tour and tasting Wednesday evening, May 17. All three events go from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Two from Yavapai County win prestigious EDDE awards
Tom Pitts, an economic development consultant in Yavapai County, and Deeidra Skipton of Goodwill Industries of Central and Northern Arizona have both been named winners of the Arizona Association for Economic Development’s (AAED) Economic Development Distinguished by Excellence (EDDE) Awards.
Pitts was named AAED’s Member of the Year and Skipton was named AAED Workforce Practitioner of the Year.
The prestigious EDDE Awards honor individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the advancement of the organization and also to the economic growth within the state of Arizona. Recipients are selected from a pool of nominations made by members of AAED.
Three Fann Contracting projects honored
Three roadway projects completed by Fann Contracting Inc. honored with 2016 Arizona Transportation Partnering Excellence Awards, presented at the American Council of Engineering Companies Arizona Conference on Roads and Streets in Tucson. This was more awards than any other company at the event, according to a news release.
As the prime contractor, Fann received partnering excellence awards for the Interstate 17 McGuireville Rock Fall Containment project, the Interstate 40 Silver Springs project, and the Highway 64 Tusayan Shoulder Widening project, all in the under $5 million category. The Arizona Transportation Partnering Excellence Awards recognize partnership teams that demonstrate a high degree of achievement through partnering principles and processes related to the transportation industry.
Prescott Dentistry offers custom whitening trays for law enforcement
To honor local law enforcement, Prescott Dentistry will be offering free custom whitening trays to officers during National Police Week (May 15 through 19).
Officers with Yavapai County Sheriffs Office, Prescott Police Department or Prescott Valley Police Department are eligible for the offer.
“The process is easy,” said Whitney Lee, Prescott Dentistry team leader. “Stop by our office at 350 Whipple Street, purchase the whitening gel ($10) and allow us to take impressions of your smile.
“We will call you to come pick up your trays when they are ready (in about a week).”
