Traditional choir fans will enjoy the Choir of St. Luke’s performance Saturday, June 3, as the group performs a concert with the theme, “Make a Joyful Noise,” in its annual fundraiser for St. Luke’s Episcopal Church to support the church’s mission.
The first piece will be “Gloria” by Vivaldi, and will be followed by selections of the choir’s favorite anthems.
The Choir of St. Luke’s, with 30 voices, is under the direction of Choir Master Dennis Houser, who is also the founder and artistic director of the Prescott Chorale.
In his 50-plus years in music as an educator and performer, Houser has been a guest soloist with Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the Pasadena Symphony, Pacific Chorale, and numerous other engagements worldwide. Houser has served as guest clinician in over 200 music festivals nationwide.
The concert, which will take place from 3 to 5 p.m., is free, but the church will be asking for a “free will offering” from those who are moved to do so.
The concert will take place at St. Luke’s, located at 2000 Shepherds Lane in Prescott, near the airport.
