New faces in new places at YBBBS

Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters President and CEO Juliana Goswick recently announced some staffing changes.

Six-year employee Michael Smith was promoted to the position of Verde Valley/Sedona interim executive director. He will join the YBBBS management team as he leads efforts in the Verde Valley and Sedona communities, focusing on match support, child referrals, recruitment and community relations.

“Those who know Smith understand he is a true example of living the Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters mission,” Goswick said in a press release. “His connections with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott College, the faith-based communities, The Big Leagues and law enforcement ‘Bigs in Blue’ are all vivid examples of his ability to strengthen community partnerships while generating positive outcomes.

Equally important, his longstanding dedication as a three-time Big Brother is a testament to his true belief in their vital community work, she said.

Additionally, Robin Layton will be joining the team as community relations and marketing director.

As the former editor of Prescott Newspapers Inc., Layton brings a wealth of knowledge regarding journalism, community relations, marketing and management, Goswick said, adding, “Best of all, she is a highly regarded community member with the opportunity to connect local residents to the Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters mission.”
