Quad-City Schools: Mountain Institute JTED accepts tax credits
Mountain Institute JTED (MIJTED) accepts tax credit donations and the donations are a 100% credit back to the donor. Arizona tax law (ARS 43-1089.01) allows taxpayers a tax credit if they contribute to extracurricular activities in public schools. The tax credit is a dollar-for-dollar deduction of the actual owed tax, and if the person has no tax, the donor may carry the unused credit forward up to the next five consecutive taxable years’ income tax liability.
Mountain Institute JTED’s tax credit donations go to support extracurricular activities. That means any optional, non-credit educational or recreational activity that supplements the education program of the school. A donation directly supports MIJTED student participation in student leadership organizations such as SkillsUSA, Heath Occupation Students of America (HOSA), Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), and Careers Through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP). The donations will directly impact students.
This tax credit is available to all Arizona individual taxpayers, regardless of whether or not you have children in school. The credit is limited to $800 for married couples filing jointly, $400 for married couples filing separately, or $400 for single individuals or heads of household. But please make note, the credit can only be claimed on individual tax returns. Contributions from businesses are welcome and are tax deductible, but cannot be claimed as a credit. Tax credit donation can also be split up between more than one school. For example: a family could support the band program at one school and Automotive Technologies at MIJTED. The amount donated does not have to be for the maximum – a person can have an impact at MIJTED with $20, $50 or $100. Every amount helps!
MIJTED accepts tax credits through April 15, 2017 to reflect on the 2016 tax year. Donation forms are found on our website and can be dropped off or mailed to MIJTED District Office located at 220 Ruger Road, Prescott, AZ 86301.
