Sports Briefs: Colts’ David Parry arrested in Scottsdale
SCOTTSDALE — Indianapolis Colts defensive lineman David Parry has been arrested in Scottsdale on suspicion of assaulting the driver of a motorized cart and then stealing and crashing the vehicle.
Police say the 24-year-old showed signs of impairment when arrested early Saturday morning near where the cart was found crashed.
According to police, the driver had picked up Parry and two other people and that the alleged assault and theft occurred after the driver dropped off the other two people and got out to be paid.
Police said they do not know if Parry has an attorney who could comment on the allegations of robbery, auto theft, criminal damage, resisting arrest and DUI.
Colts spokesman Avis Roper said the team is gathering information.
Lakers call up G David Nwaba from D-League affiliate
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Lakers have signed guard David Nwaba from their NBA Development League affiliate. Nwaba was in uniform on Tuesday night against the Charlotte Hornets.
Nwaba has averaged 13.9 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 38 games for the Los Angeles D-Fenders, including a 117-113 loss to the Northern Arizona Suns in Prescott Valley on Sunday when he scored 23 points on 10 of 13 shooting from the field, and grabbed seven rebounds.
Lakers coach Luke Walton says Nwaba earned the call-up with his defensive play.
Nwaba takes the roster spot created by the Lakers’ buyout of Spanish guard Jose Calderon.
Nwaba also grew up in Los Angeles, attending University High School and Santa Monica College.
