Letter: Differing support
Bob Shaw didn’t expect his letter (Dec. 7) to be published because he said the Courier is dishonest and News Editor Ken Sain is a “moron.” I think The Daily Courier is reasonably balanced with its choice of editorials, cartoons and letters. Bob makes it clear he’s an avid Trump supporter. Trump is only one man but he has millions of supporters, which is even more scary.
They don’t know the difference between real news and fake news. Real news is based on evidence and fact. President Trump tells his supporters all mainstream media is fake (except perhaps Fox) and they believe him. Fortunately for our country, support for Trump is waning, including among Republicans. Whether we like it or not, he’s our president until 2020.
His mantra, “Make America Great Again,” shows he’s out of touch. He doesn’t realize that America has always been great, and always will be – once Trump is gone. America was a world leader, but now most Americans and our allies think Trump has made the USA look small and inward looking. Trump is sowing discord in the Republican Party – they’re fighting each other!
In Alabama, are the women who Roy Moore allegedly abused when they were teenagers a media conspiracy? In our new #MeToo society, other politicians are resigning (both parties). Moore denies any wrongdoing and is supported by Trump, who also denies sexual harassment. For them and the Republican National Committee, political advantage in Congress overrules morals and ethics. That is truly pathetic!
