Since the latter half of 2012, Belinda Bradley of Belinda’s Pet Grooming has been developing a connection with a dog by the name of Babyboy, seeing and watching him grow old through his grooming appointments.

Thursday, Sept. 22 was most likely Babyboy’s last grooming appointment, said Bradley, stating that it’s hard seeing an animal get older when you’ve been grooming them for years.

“You get so attached to them,” she said.

While Bradley has been grooming Babyboy since 2012, her business, Belinda’s Pet Grooming, has been around since 2011 and is celebrating five years in October, Bradley said. A product of a love for animals, grooming pets is her passion, she said.

Bradley said she likes to make animals feel better, noting that it’s rewarding to be able to do so through grooming them. Sometimes an animal will walk in with their heads down because of matted fur and afterwards, they’ll walk out with their heads held high, she said. They also all have their own personalities, she said.

“They have feelings and emotions like we do, each dog and cat is unique in their own way,” Bradley said. “That’s why I love my job.”

Belinda’s Pet Grooming gets an average of between 20-25 people per day bringing their pets in, she said, adding that she’s thankful for her clients and the community for making it a successful business. It’s located at 8098 East Valley Road.

Also working in Belinda’s Pet Grooming is Mercedes Kline and Bella Halley. Kline said she enjoys everything about coming in and making a pet look nice, echoing what Bradley said about dogs coming in with matted fur and their heads down.

“I enjoy cleaning them up and making them feel better. They leave the shop happy wagging their tails and looking cute,” she said. “I enjoy seeing the looks on clients faces when they see their dog all cleaned up!”

Looking forward to the next five years, Bradley said she’d eventually like to expand and open a second location, commenting that Prescott would be a nice area to open another location.
