Windmill House cancels pumpkin festival
Windmill House’s pumpkin festival scheduled to start Oct. 9 and run through the month has been canceled.
The owners of the Chino Valley business were hoping to revive the festival now that Freeman Farms no longer hosts one in the area.
However, they were unable to acquire the pumpkins required in time to host the event.
The business’s manager, Tony Cordovana, said they are planning on reintroducing the event starting next year.
The public is invited to attend an open house of the Plaza View Ballroom, 120 W. Gurley St., in Prescott this Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
It will mark the third anniversary of the space, which overlooks the courthouse plaza in downtown Prescott.
Goodwill costume contest
Goodwill of Central Arizona’s more than 70 locations, including those in Prescott and Prescott Valley, are hosting a costume contest for Halloween this year. The event runs through Oct. 31.
To enter shoppers must purchase at least part of their Halloween costume this year at one of the Goodwill locations, at which time they will receive an “I Am Authentic” sign (provided at checkout). Trick-or-treaters must then send a photo of themselves in their costume and the sign to GetCreative@goodwillaz.org.
Goodwill will award the most creative costumes with prizes including:
• Best Individual Costume: 55” 4K Smart TV
• Best Kids Costume: PlayStation 4
• Best Group Costume: $300 AMEX gift card and $200 Goodwill gift card
Winners will be notified in early November.
