No. 2-ranked Cougars soccer team blanks Round Valley, 9-0

EAGAR — Chino Valley High’s AIA Division II No. 2-ranked boys’ soccer team blanked Round Valley 9-0 in a blowout Sept. 21 on the road to stay unbeaten.

The three-time defending small-schools state champion Cougars own a 4-0 record in power-point matches and are currently 8-0 overall. They have outscored the opposition a whopping 56-2 in eight contests.

Versus Round Valley, Chino was led offensively by Arturo Gomez, who registered a hat trick with four goals. Cesar Miguel, Jordan Sanchez, Johnny Beltran-Gomez, Jairo Herrera and Walter Soto scored a goal apiece.

Sanchez tallied three assists and Soto dished two. Arturo Gomez and Herrera had a helper each.

Chino moves on to visit Grand Canyon High at 4 p.m. next Tuesday, Sept. 27. The Cougars will then compete in the annual Old Pueblo Soccer Classic Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at Udall Park in Tucson.
