American Legion Auxiliary conducts membership drive

The American Legion Auxiliary is conducting a membership drive. Those who have served in the military, or are close family members of someone who served, you may be eligible to join the group’s ranks.

The American Legion Auxiliary is the largest women’s patriotic organization in the world, active in every state in the United States as well as on foreign shores.

The group assists our active duty military and their families, shipping boxes to active duty troops to bring them a taste of home: cookies, jerky, popcorn, socks, etc. It also participates in Stand Downs for homeless vets, providing much-needed basics, a hot meal and a safe place to stay for a couple of nights. It sponsors the Girl’s State Program every year for a couple of local high school juniors, where they attend a weeklong gathering where they learn how our government operates. The group provides food, gifts and clothing for several families in the area at Christmas, and it has several volunteers at the VA Hospital. The list goes on.

The group is active and caring and likes to have fun. Monthly meetings are at the Post on Pleasant Street the second Monday of each month at 10:30 a.m. Visitors are welcome. Stop by and see what we are all about.

Interested? Stop by the Post at 202 S. Pleasant St., Prescott, or send an email to our Membership Chair Juanita Moffitt at
