“Honoring the sacrifices many have made for our country in the name of freedom and democracy is the very foundation of Veteran’s Day.” - Charles B. Rangel

Del Rio Elementary School has a special tradition of celebrating Veterans Day with our community in a special assembly. Student Council members and sponsors, Rose Eldredge and Brenda Hubbard, organize the annual event.

This assembly is led by students who are dressed in red, white and blue. All grade levels participate with patriotic songs and readings. Students invite community veterans, family relatives, or friends and together take an active part in our assembly. Students are very proud of their special veterans and are thrilled to introduce them by sharing some words of honor and thankfulness. It is the students who benefit most from this opportunity to connect the concept of “veteran” with real people in the community.

“While only one day of the year is dedicated solely to honoring our veterans, Americans must never forget the sacrifices that many of our fellow countrymen have made to defend our country and protect our freedoms.” - Randy Neugebauer

If you are a veteran or active duty military, Del Rio wants to honor you.  Please come and celebrate with us at the annual Del Rio Elementary School Veterans’ Day Assembly on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 1:30 p.m. in the Del Rio gym. This respected tradition at Del Rio is an opportunity the students, staff, and community members pay tribute to the men and women who served our country in the past or are currently serving in the military.
