The Big Easy, a wine and beer bar off McCormick Street in Prescott, is hosting a three-day event of live music to raise funds for Prescott Police Department’s Shop with a Cop program.
The party kicks off Friday, Oct. 28, and goes through Sunday, Oct. 30. Whatever the bar makes in sales those three days will go directly to the program, said Jana Harris, the business’s owner.
“I think [Shop with a Cop] is a big investment for the community,” Harris said. “I think the cause is very worthy.”
Completely funded by community donations, Shop with a Cop takes place every holiday season. The program provides selected children, referred by public and private organizations, the opportunity to shop with a local law enforcement officer for Christmas gifts.
Acoustic guitar player Marko Donnelly will get the live music started Friday evening from 7-to-10 p.m. on The Big Easy’s front porch.
Saturday’s music will begin with jazz by the Scandalous Hands Band on the bar’s backyard stage from 1-to-4 p.m. Funk Frequency will pick it back up from 7-to-10 p.m., followed by a costume contest with a first prize of $100.
On Sunday, Stuart Rhodes and Robert Trinchini will play on the front porch from 12-to-3 p.m. Sky Daddy will wrap it all up by playing from 3-to-5 p.m.
Harris is paying all of the musicians except Sky Daddy (Sky Conwell), who is donating his time.
