Indian Art Market showcases Native American artists' work
Native American artists from throughout the Southwest showcased their work this past weekend, Saturday and Sunday, at the Smoki Museum, 147 N. Arizona Ave., in Prescott for the annual Christmas Indian Art Market.
The artwork included Native American jewelry, kachinas, pottery, paintings, glasswork and more.
The Smoki Museum brought back the Christmas Indian Art Market last year after a several-year hiatus caused by the poor economy. Cindy Gresser, Smoki’s executive director, said the museum intends to continue hosting the event every year going forward.
“We’re doing this the weekend after Thanksgiving to try to encourage people that are going to the big box stores to come here and buy from our native people,” Gresser said.
