Dorn Homes takes home the silver, eligible for gold

Dorn Homes has been honored with two Silver Awards from the National Association of Home Builders.

Shari Morton was recognized for excellence in her role as the Dorn Homes Online Home Advisor and the company’s Organic Home received the silver award for Best Promotion of a Green/Sustainable Program.

“The Nationals are the most prestigious awards of their kind, setting the benchmark for innovations in new home design, marketing and sales,” said Meredith Oliver, chairperson of the Nationals.

During a three-day judging process, a panel of seven industry professionals from across the country determined the recipients of each award from over 1,100 entries. Silver Award Winners are the top vote recipients in each category, and are finalists for the Gold Award to be presented in January 2017.

Prescott Auto Center donates another vehicle

The three business owners who make up Prescott Auto Center gave away their fourth vehicle on Wednesday, Nov. 23.

About two years ago, Louie Gomez, Jayme Salazar and Gary Sharp began accepting donations of old vehicles, fixing them up in their shops and giving them away to people who they believe need and deserve a reliable vehicle.

Most recently, Dan Fern passed away and left his 1998 Geo to Prescott Auto Center to be donated.

With only 48,000 miles on the car, Louie Gomez, owner of Prescott Tire Pros & Automotive Service (one of the four businesses nestled under the umbrella of Prescott Auto Center), said they only had to put in about $900 worth of work and parts before the car was ready to be passed on to a local woman who cleans homes for a living.

“Her car is constantly breaking down, forcing her to get rides from friends and family, so I said that’s the perfect recipient,” Gomez said.

Like their previous car donations, Gomez said they’ll be providing the Geo with one-year of free maintenance, including oil changes and fixing any problems that arise.

Gomez said they’re always looking for car donations and suggestions on who might deserve receiving such a gift.

Prescott Tire Pros & Automotive Service is located at 1635 Iron Springs Road and can be reached by calling 928-776-0205.
