If the thought of hearing “Santa Baby” is giving you holiday angst, it might be time to reclaim the simplicity and solemnity of the season with the acoustic artistry of Windham Hill: Winter Solstice, coming to the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center Nov. 19.
Windham Hill – the iconic record label that dominated the folk/New Age scene in the 1980s and 90s – is known for the evocative, contemplative music of its artists.
Winter Solstice features three of the label’s best. Pianist Liz Story, guitarist/vocalist Sean Harkness and violinist/guitarist/singer Barbara Higbie come together with a collection of songs that capture the quiet majesty of the winter season.
Windham Hill: Winter Solstice performs Saturday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m., at the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center, 1100 E. Sheldon St., in Prescott. Tickets are $26 to $44, and available at the YCPAC Box Office, by calling 928-776-2000, or visiting www.ycpac.com.
