Letter: Bathroom politics

A recent CBS poll indicates 59 percent of the public is opposed to men entering women’s restrooms and locker rooms based on gender identity. Until recently, this has not been an issue because privacy and safety rights of our young girls and women have always been based on common sense and given the highest of priorities.

The left-wing progressives led by the White House (remember the promise to fundamentally transform America) are pushing to overturn this policy that has protected the privacy of our girls and women for centuries.

When policies with safety concerns are implemented someone will always feel infringed upon (safety belts, motorcycle helmets, etc.). In this case, the safety and privacy issues far outweigh the so called compassionate argument. With the high number of molestation cases in society it can be anticipated that claims of being transgendered will make easy access into these once-private spaces for those with ill intent.

In addition to the threat of physical assault there is now the threat of increased emotional assault with iPhone-type cameras. This will magnify the harm. Many others will simply avoid the convenience of using available facilities. These also are victims of this morally bankrupt policy. This progressive left-wing, politically correct takeover should be soundly rejected for the sake of the innocents yet to be affected should this travesty take hold.

To hear victim testimony regarding the effects of open restroom/locker room policy by survivors of sexual assault I would encourage you to view several short videos at the website of Alliance Defending Freedom. and
