Comments welcomed on ADOT’s 5-year plan
In its Tentative Five-Year Transportation Facilities Construction Program for 2017-21, Arizona Department of Transportation is able to recommend a few more projects for Greater Arizona because of additional funding through the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act, as well as a Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant.
These projects otherwise would have remained in ADOT’s Development Program for projects six to 10 years out. The department will take public comment at three hearings in the next few months, none of which are in Prescott (Oro Valley, Phoenix and Flagstaff).
However, residents may learn more about the Five-Year Tentative Plan, and provide their comments to ADOT, at azdot.gov/fiveyearplan, where a “how to read it” guide is available. ADOT welcomes feedback through Survey Monkey at surveymonkey.com/r/CJY36HY, email at firstname.lastname@example.org, and by calling 855-712-8530. The comment period ends at 5 p.m. on May 30.
A part of the major projects for Greater Arizona is the fiscal year 2016-17 $15-million allocation for a corridor-widening project that will improve capacity, operations and safety along Highways 89 and 89A to Deep Well Ranch Road. ADOT will widen the roadways from two lanes to four lanes.
