Nuclear weapons subject of talk March 16

Sister Megan Rice of Transform Now Plowshares! and Dr. Richard Bloom of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University will discuss “Life with Nuclear Weapons?” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, at Crossroads Community Room, Prescott College. This free event is open to the public, and is hosted by the Tom Pettit Chapter Veterans For Peace, Prescott College Social Justice and Human Rights Masters Program, and Quad-Cities Interfaith Council.

Sister Megan is a Catholic nun and celebrated nuclear abolitionist convicted of crimes of peace for the 2012 break-in of the Y-12 nuclear weapons complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Her nonviolent, divine-obedience, direct action focused world attention on the security and necessity of the U.S. nuclear arsenal.

Dr. Bloom, director of the ERAU College of Security and Intelligence Studies, is an expert in psychological warfare, political and clinical psychology, intelligence, profiling policy and science, propaganda, counter-terrorism, personnel security and transnational crime.
