Letter: Cable ‘guide’ lacking


Following is an email I sent to CableOne: I truly hate the new digital boxes. There is no TV guide channel, so you have to use the remote “guide.” You have to go through channels one at a time. It takes four key presses to get to info and back. You can only see this time slot, unless you press keys twice more to go to the next one and back. It does not tell you on the screen what channel you’re on. The DVR has a decent guide, but I’m already paying for three of them.

Now on my DVR guide the shows are correct, but on the digital box guide it shows completely different shows, although the show on the DVR program list is the one that’s actually playing. My digital box “guide” shows only SAP, I cannot click to choose that channel. I went to settings/sap and turned it off, but I cannot click on the channel. I have to get out of the guide and press the channel button 15 times. I am paying for three DVRs (I believe $10 each a month) just to get a decent guide.

When I call the office I am condescendingly told this guide is better than the TV guide channel. I have been a CableOne customer for decades, but I am starting to check into satellite. All I want is a decent guide that I don’t have to pay an extra $10 per TV for. Please bring back the TV Guide channel, or am I missing something?
