The School Food Program is continuing at the Cordes Lakes Community Center. This program is free to those under 18 years of age. Breakfast is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., lunch is 11:00 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. This program continues through July 29.
Don’t forget the Independence Day lunch at Mayer Meals on Wheels, 10051 Miami in Mayer, on Friday, July 1 at 11:30. Fun for all.
The barbecue cook-off is Saturday, July 2, at Henry Cordes Park. Entrance fee is $5 and prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Sampling the barbecue is $5 or you can get hamburgers and hot dogs. There will be games, contests, raffles, etc. Come enjoy the celebration with fun for adults and children.
July 4th will be the next day the American Legion will raise flags on the Avenue of Flags at Henry Cordes Park. Flags go up at 7 a.m. and down at 5 p.m. and any help would be appreciated.
A Meditation Seminar will be held at Energetic Healing, 16148 S. Cordes Lakes Drive, starting at 6 p.m. This is a free seminar to learn about how to reclaim peace in your life through meditation.
Cordes Lakes Association Meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. at the Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive, on Thursday, July 14. Judge Rummer is the scheduled speaker. He had to cancel his previous engagement due to being detained in court and this is the rescheduled date.
On July 18 a seminar on Essential Oils will be held at Energetic Healing starting at 6:00 p.m. Find out about essential oils and how they help the body. This is a free seminar to learn how the benefits of oils can revitalize the body.
Bingo is held every Wednesday at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. with sandwiches and snacks available, held at Cordes Lakes Community Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive. Jackpot varies weekly.
TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is held weekly on Fridays at 20049 E. Club Lane. Weigh-in is at 8:45 a.m., with meetings starting at 9 a.m.
The Tuesday Planning Committee will meet at 9:00 a.m. on the Tuesday preceding the Board Meeting (which meets on the 2nd Thursday of the month). Meetings are open to everyone to present their ideas and to help with fundraising. This is also the time to present your fundraising information to be placed on the published Community Events list.
United Teens meet every Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Cordes Lakes Library,
15989 S. Cordes Lakes Drive. This group works together on fundraising and volunteering in the community.
Exercise Class is suspended for June, but normally is held at Cordes Lakes Community Center. Sessions are Tuesday and Thursday each week from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. That’s 8 sessions for only $5. The fee covers the cost of building use. Contact Kimila at 928-713-3782.
Crochet & Knit Group meets every Thursday at the Flour Stone Bakery at 12780 E. Central in Mayer. They start at 9:30 a.m. and exchange patterns and conversation.
Young Lives meets at the Cordes Lakes Community Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive, Monday at 7:00 p.m.
Big Bug Charity Quilters meet every Monday at the Mayer Senior Center, 10051 Miami, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Beading is held Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m. Beading Class is held every Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at the MAAC, 10051 Miami.
Knit and Crochet at Flour Stone Bakery, 12780 Central, Mayer, meets every Thursday at 9:30. This is in Mayer and diagonally across from the post office.
Storytime at the Cordes Lakes Library will be suspended for the summer, June, July and August.
Big Bug Gem & Mineral Club holds their outings on the third Monday of the month with meetings held the following Tuesday at 7 p.m. at various members' homes. Contact Ken Dunham at 928-899-6810 for more information. Meetings are held at member’s homes and varies by month.
Mayer Fire has its open board meetings on the third Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. at the main location at 11975 South Highway 69.
American Legion meetings are off for the summer July and August and will resume in September on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the Conference Room at the 50s Backseat Diner, 19780 Hitching Post Way.
