Medical assistant Christine Loughney refills a dispenser containing condoms at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Health Services. Federal law requires colleges and universities that receive financial aid funds to include sexual health among its student services. However, current state law restricts what K-12 teachers can say in the classroom and requires parental consent before students participate in sexual education classes. Two bills in the state Legislature would change how sex-ed can be offered in the pre-college grades.
