A two-car collision on Highway 89 near Road 1 North Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 26, trapped one victim in the wreckage and sent both drivers to the hospital.

Chino Valley Fire District crews had to take the door off one car to extricate the victim, Battalion Chief Phillip Cox said.

The two female victims, neither of which had life-threatening injuries, were taken by ambulance to Yavapai Regional Medical Center's west campus.

Traffic was slowed on Highway 89, but the road remained open.

The accident came up at Tuesday's Town Council meeting with residents complaining that the Arizona Department of Transportation keeps moving back the addition of a stop light at Road 1 North because of a lack of funds.
