Vets' artwork sought for 2016 National Veterans Creative Arts Festival

PRESCOTT - The VA is looking for veterans with artistic talent.

The Northern Arizona VA Health Care System will be the host of the 2016 National Veterans Creative Art Festival to be held on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, in Theater Building 15 at the VA campus at 500 Highway 89 North.

Judges will be considering 51 different categories of fine arts, applied arts and craft kit categories.

"A special commemorative category titled 'The Military Experience' will be offered as well," according to a VA news release on the art festival. "In addition, this year's veteran artists will have the opportunity to enter a national competition in which their art work could be used on the Veterans Days posters distributed nationwide each year."

First-place winners in the festival will advance to a regional competition, with the potential to advance to the national arts competition to be held in October in Jackson, Mississippi.

Ten local veterans' artwork placed in the top three categories in last year's national festival.

All entries are required to be submitted between Feb. 1 and Feb. 10 to the Occupational Recreational Therapy office.

For more information about submitting artwork for the festival, contact Paula Moran at 928-717-7541 or Sharla Peterson at 928-445-4860, ext. 6243.
