Prescott man arrested after allegedly hitting skateboarder and fleeing scene
PRESCOTT - Police have arrested a 21-year-old man who they say hit a boy on a skateboard with his vehicle Wednesday, Jan. 20, and then left the scene, according to Prescott Police Department spokeswoman Lt. Amy Bonney.
James Herron, Prescott, is charged with possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also had an outstanding warrant.
Bonney said Herron is accused of striking a 15-year-old boy who was skateboarding in the alley near the 300 block of North Cortez Street Wednesday afternoon and then driving off.
Witnesses helped police locate Herron, according to the police report.
"Herron exhibited signs and symptoms of impairment," Bonney said.
He's been booked into the Camp Verde jail.
The 15-year-old victim was flown to a Phoenix-area hospital and remains there for treatment of serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
