Richard D. Hibl

Richard D. Hibl passed away peacefully at his winter home in Cordes Lakes, Arizona, on Feb. 15, 2016.

Born Sept. 20, 1940, at the Dale Hospital in Poplar, Montana to Adolph and Martha Hibl, Richard’s love of Montana’s Roosevelt and Valley Counties and his hometown of Poplar ran deep. He also loved his Arizona community, finding kindred spirits at the ’50s Diner crowd and caring for his trees, roses and cacti that thrived in Yavapai County’s mild weather.

Richard graduated from Poplar High School in 1958 and shortly after entered the Army Reserve, serving from September 1959 through August 1964. After his service in the Army Reserve, Richard started a long career making a living as roustabout on oil fields, driving big fuel rigs and farming. Richard cited “paying off the loan on the farm” as his biggest accomplishment, along with establishing a trust benefitting Cardiac Care at St. Vincent Healthcare.

Living in Reno, Nevada is his brother, Ed. Pre-deceasing Richard are his parents and other four siblings – Mary Hibl Lowe Deschine, Alice Hibl Thorsen, Robert Hibl, and Dorothy Hibl Gross. Although Richard wasn’t married, his family includes 17 nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mayer, Arizona on April 27 at 1 p.m. and at St. Raphael Parish, Glasgow, Montana on May 18 at 1 p.m. Receptions will follow each service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to St. Vincent Healthcare Foundation.

Arrangements are by David’s Desert Chapel, Wickenburg, Arizona.
