Donneta Sue "Donna" Reed Nygord

Donneta Sue Reed Nygord, “Donna,” of Prescott, Arizona, passed away on March 16, 2015, after a brief illness.

Donneta was the daughter of Orin S. Reed Sr. and Lucille P. Reed Phillips. She was born in Kokomo, Indiana, on April 5, 1941. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Nygord; stepdaughter, Michelle Nygord Matson; parents and grandparents.

Donneta graduated from Western High School, Indiana, and attended Ball State University, in Muncie, Indiana. She was Chief Finance Officer of Nygord Precision Products, Inc. She managed the office and gun import operations in full partnership with her husband. Don attributed his many years of international competitive success on the U.S. National Shooting Team, the Pan-American Games and in the Olympics to Donneta’s steadfast and loving support. Donneta enjoyed being Don’s traveling companion both nationally and internationally.

Donneta was an active member of the Prescott Chapter of the Arizona P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization). She was also a member of the American Evangelical Lutheran Church in Prescott.

Donneta is survived by six siblings, Devena D. Reed of Prescott, Arizona, Delonna Kaufman of Jackson, Michigan, Doreen (Barry) Howell of South Dakota, Orin S. Reed Jr. (Anna) of Dothan, Alabama, David E. Reed Sr. (Patricia), Galveston, Texas, and Dion C. Reed (Vimol) of Kokomo, Indiana. She is also survived by one aunt and uncle, Arlene M. Reed Turner (Gene) of Kokomo, Indiana; sister-in-law Janet Nygord Livingston, Oregon; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins as well as many admiring friends in Prescott and nationally.

Donneta is greatly missed by family and friends, “Til we meet again.” Donneta is at rest with her beloved husband at the Prescott National Cemetery, Prescott, Arizona.
